Bo at The Barns
Tuesday, March 3, 2009 - 6:24 pm - love4bo
The following is a recap written by my 14 year-old daughter. She had to do this as a school assignment for her Guitar Class. She mentioned to Bo during the m&g and he wanted to read it. I'm posting it here hoping Bo would be able to find it.

On March 1, 2009, the Barns at Wolf Trap held an acoustic concert at 7:30pm featuring Bo Bice as the headliner accompanied by Bart Walker and Patrick Mitchell as the opening act. First off, the opening act of Patrick Mitchell. I have never heard of him before, but he was pretty good. He played the keyboard with soul and sang from his heart. You can tell he was really into it. Although his songs were similar to one another regarding beat and rhythm, they were the types of songs that calm you down and really make you listen and forget the world while reminding you of it at the same time, ideal music for after a hard day at work or a brutal day elsewhere. He sang eight songs in total. They were: “Hold Out Your Hand”, “Headed South”, “Don’t You Speak”, “In the Pouring Rain”, “Worthy Apology”, and some other songs whose names I do not remember. When he finished, most of the audience, meaning the Bo peeps, cheered and gave him a standing ovation, which was followed by a brief intermission.

After the break, Bo Bice was introduced and all the peeps rose from their seats and screamed their lungs out all throughout the concert. They cheered and sang and laughed at Bo’s many jokes. He and Bart started off by playing “I’m Gone”. Bo was the rhythm guitarist and vocalist (bo-calist) and Bart was the lead guitarist. In other songs, they also played the mandolin. And in some special songs, Bart either played the saxophone or the dobro. Bo even said that Bart “could play just about anything!” The other songs they played were: “Midnight Ride”, “Ain’t Gonna Die”, “I Love the Road”, “Only Words”, “Mississippi Kid”, “Take the Country Outta Me”, “See the Light”, “American Blood”, “Good Hearted Woman”, “Whiskey, Women, and Time”, “Long Road Back”, and “Buffalo Springfield”. It was exciting southern rock music that really got the peeps moving, especially near the end when all of the fans (peeps) danced at the foot of the stage. Bart was like a genius on those complicated guitar melody pieces accompanied by Bo.

Bo really connected with the audience. Often in between songs, he would share a hilarious short story with us about his experiences and about his friends. He really has a very distinctive voice that no one can match. He has a lot of energy and a friendly personality that you can tell he loves what he does and is exceptionally good at it. The concert ended on a good note; and, with the Bo peeps satisfied and happy (and wanting more). The longest part of the night was waiting in the long line for the meet and greet with Bo and Patrick. The worst part was leaving in a blizzard. Bo was really interactive with the crowd and his funny side overflowed as he signed things for the fans.

To sum it up, it was a great show! God bless that southern rocker!

Great Venue!

What a beautiful venue. The sound was absolutely amazing. Bo's voice sounded clear and so strong, and he seemed almost serene. It was such an emotional show, with each acoustic show different from the next. Bart was so good, playing a variety of instruments and being the straight man for Bo's jokes. Patrick Mitchell and Bo signed for each and every person. Bo took his time, looked into their eyes, thanked them for coming and told them to be safe getting home. You would never know that a noreaster blizzard was happening outside. The guys had a long bus ride home to Nashville but did not seem concerned with anything but the fans. As we were walking to our cars in the blinding snow we heard Bo yell goodnight and drive safe.
